Extend A Life Initiative Uganda will commemorate the post International Day of the Girl Child under the theme; “Empower Her Future, Together Against Child Marriage!” This will be conducted in Kyasa pariah, Namayumba sub-county, Wakiso district. The event will take place on Thursday, 17/10/2024. The event will be attended by beneficiaries from Kyasa, Kitayita, Kanziro, bembe, Lutisi and Nakedde parishes. stakeholders from the local government, schools, Health workers and the community people will also be present. Girls and women will be celebrated and they will have chance to share their success stories, challenges faced and how they over came them.
The day will also be graced with with other activities like sports in Netball and Foot ball from our beneficiaries from different parishes. This will enable them to interact more and make meaningful partnerships with their peers from other parishes. This will also enable them to relieve themselves from mental health challenges and free free to open up with one another to get solutions with their challenges. This will empower and strength them to advocate for their rights so that they have a more comfortable and meaningful life.
Along side the commemoration of the International Girl Child day, there will also be an activity of SRHR services conducted. There will be voluntary HIV/AIDs screening and testing of individuals including the child mothers and young women at risk. Family planning services will also be offered. PrEP and PEP will also be available to individuals who may be interested in getting it and the health workers will be available to give out informing to whoever would wish to have these services. This will help in preventing of the STIs, unplanned pregnancies’ and avoiding contracting of HIV/AIDs.
